By Muslim Youth, For Muslim Youth
Our Story
Salam Central was founded in 2021 by a group of Muslim high school students in Surrey who shared a vision: to create a space where young Muslims could feel seen, supported, and empowered. What began as a grassroots initiative has grown into a dedicated non-profit led by eight university students (ages 19–21).
Motivated by rising concerns around Islamophobia and xenophobia, we recognized the urgent need for safe, affirming spaces where Muslim youth can confidently embrace their faith and identity, without fear or pressure to conform. Salam Central exists to meet that need.
We build community by creating opportunities for young Muslims to connect with one another through meaningful, low-barrier events. From Iftar gatherings and game nights to discussion circles and sports tournaments, we focus on programs that foster belonging, joy, and leadership. We also support the next generation by running annual summer day camps for Muslim children, nurturing identity and friendship from an early age.
At our core, Salam Central is about togetherness, faith, and youth-led change.
We are by Muslim Youth, for Muslim Youth.
