WHO ARE WE
Salam Central is a co-ed cohort with 6 high school and university students between the ages of 17-23. Our cohort was initiated after many of us were in search of a space where we could be gathered with like-minded youth and organize our own events and projects. Our passion for establishing a sense of togetherness and giving back to the community brought us together.
OUR MISSION
With the growing concerns of Islamophobia and Xenophobia, we recognize that there is a dire need for safe spaces to be formed. Some Muslim youth feel the need to silence their faith or identity in certain spaces and we aim to combat this by developing a supportive environment that is built upon vital Islamic teachings. In this manner, there is no need to choose between fitting in a Western society or following one’s religion. As high school is a difficult point in time where youth are challenged with a variety of issues, we feel that this specific demographic of Muslims requires more support.
